Passive Houses are not restricted to residential buildings any longer

The first non-residential Passive House was an office building - the administrative centre of Wagner & Co., a company situated in the city of Cölbe, near Marburg (responsible architect Mr. Schramm). Further office buildings followed rapidly.

Passive Houses are especially suitable for administrative buildings, as well as schools, gymnasiums and nursery schools.

With every new implementation, new questions arise: What is the sufficient level of heat insulation? How can the ventilation system work at its best? How can good thermal comfort be achieved in summer times?

Each existing Passive House is one cornerstone on the way to a better and liveable future. Passive Houses prove that comfort and prosperity need not imply an unjustifiable utilisation of resources. Passive houses, built with the help of regional craftsmen in an intelligent and energy-efficient way lead to high comfort and living quality. Thereby providing opportunities for the public building trade in particular, with respect to future problems of climate protection, tight labour markets and provision for an ageing society.

Passive Houses can be ...
