Entitled Passive House Basics, this full-day course is ideal for both first time Conference participants and for all those wishing to refresh their Passive House knowledge. Passive House essentials such as heating and cooling, airtightness and thermal bridge free construction, indoor air quality, ventilation, cost effectiveness, certifi cation as well as built examples in various climate zones will be covered by prominent Passive House experts, including Wolfgang Feist himself. The adaptation of building components and the implementation of Passive House principles to suit climatic conditions will be the main focus of the day. A ten minute frame has been set aside after each presentation to answer your questions.

A wide variety of Certified Passive House Components are readily available in the German-speaking world. This workshop aims to increase the availability of such components in regions that are newer to Passive House by encouraging cooperative efforts between manufacturers on certifiable components ideally suited to the climatic conditions of these newer regions. For programme details on this workshop, put on by the Passive House Institute in cooperation with the exhibitors of the Passive House component exhibition.

On Sunday, 27 April 2014, participants are welcome to attend one
of the tours to visit Passive House buildings, both new builds and
refurbishments. All tours include transfer, on-site tours, translation into
English and lunch. Bookings possible for Conference

Business Terms and Conditions of the 18th International Passive House Conference
1. Registration
Registrations must be either submitted online or by post. Registrations are binding and will be processed in the order in which they are received. The number of participants is limited. After registration, you will receive an invoice. The early booking discount can only be granted if both registration and payment are completed before 07 March 2014. Only those who have paid the applicable
fees in full will be admitted to the conference. Only cancellations in
writing will be accepted. All cancellations after 28 February 2014 will incur
a €70 processing fee while cancellations made as of 28 March 2014 will
incur a fee equal to 50% of the total registration fees. The participation fee
is to be paid in full in case of no-shows and cancellations as of or after
14 April 2014; a substitute participant may, however, be named.
2. Services
The scope of services includes: the conference proceedings complete
with conference presentations, lunch, coffee breaks and simultaneous
translation into English at all German language sessions. The organisers
reserve the right to make any necessary changes to the programme.
Conference participants will receive a free AVV-Kombiticket, valid from
24 through 27 April 2014, allowing the use of all public transport
within the city of Aachen as well as the districts of Heinsberg and Düren.
3. Cancellation, restriction of liability
In the event that the 18th Passive House Conference or any part of the
framework programme must be cancelled, the participants will be notified
immediately and will be reimbursed any participation fees already paid.
The liability of the organisers is limited to reimbursement of the paid
participation fee only.

Discounts for iPHA members and affiliates can only be granted for those who are already members at the time of registration. Admission to the course will be granted only upon payment of applicable fees in full. Cancellation is not possible and no refund will be granted for no-shows, although a substitute participant may be named.
2. Services
The scope of services includes: lunch and two coffee breaks. The organisers reserve the right to make any necessary changes to the programme.

In the event that the Passive House Basics Course must be cancelled, participants will be notified immediately and will be reimbursed for the participation fee paid. The liability of the organisers is limited to reimbursement of the paid participation fee only.
